Road Less Traveled
July 31, 2005 by commentaries-on-singles
Some people find their greatest fulfillment in marriage. Some find it in the solitude of singleness. Too many would wish to get married yet, when they are into it, they wish to revert their freedom. I am certifying the obvious! Whether single or married, we need to find our own balance. After all, contentment is a choice.
In my 35 years, I have come across people who have attempted to cure my perceived loneliness by introducing me to their friends. Too often I get comments like: “what’s wrong with you and you’re still single?” It’s frustrating how insensitive and callous the Philippine culture looks on singles. I am being name-tagged “with factory defect.”
They ask why I work so hard and rationalize that I don’t have a husband to support, no children to send to school, no diapers and milk to buy. I can only smile and sigh. My being single is the reason why I work doubly hard! At the event I get sick, I don’t have a husband’s income to lean on.
Jet planes have twin engines to support it in times of distress. Singles rely on themselves to stay afloat in troubled waters. To say that singles are cowards of greater responsibilities and commitment is a cliche! In today’s troubled times not too many are willing to tread on the road less traveled.
Thats true i find it stupid to have such comment questioning why a single work so hard.She-He has to.Among the sis and bros of my mother it’s only my mom got married. And they’re seriously handling their own business and very cheansy with spending. As in. Singles who have a good job, with neices and nephews, good family, with friends for me is okey.
again its meh:
you are soo ideal indeed,
to be love and cared.
to share the unwinding road, full of talent, beauty and caressed.
i maybe too damn and fool,
but im still glad that i know you from them all.
just cheer up my FRIEND,
there are still someone like me who wanna be will you ’til the END.

You make me feel I am Ms. Universe. Hahaha! I hope life is treating you well in your migration to Canada. We might not share the same paths but the net will bridge the distance. I’ll keep in touch. Take care always my friend.
